District 33 Updates

  • In September, our office had the privilege of hosting a luncheon at Brooklyn Bridge Park for 200 wonderful older adults from across our district! Together, we celebrated the enduring impact our seniors have had in making our community so special.

I had the privilege of presenting Vivian Levy, a remarkable Brooklynite at 104, with a Council proclamation for outstanding contributions to our community & her daily swimming routine!

We also recognized Vie Mae Richardson & Lona Tyre, 2 distinguished leaders in Gowanus Houses.

  • We spent the last few weeks of August helping kids around District 33 get ready to head back to school by distributing nearly 1,000 backpacks with school supplies at each of our district’s seven NYCHA developments!

Thank you so much to everyone who donated backpacks & school supplies & helped us distribute hundreds of backpacks to D33 students from Wyckoff Gardens, Warren St Houses, Gowanus Houses, Independence Towers, Jonathan Williams Plaza, Taylor Wythe, and Berry S 9th Houses!

  • Our Sustainable Building Resource Fair brought together hundreds of local building owners and property managers with energy efficient contractors, nonprofit orgs & City agencies to help buildings access the resources they need to comply with Local Law 97.

Big buildings are the City’s largest polluters and Local Law 97 is transformative legislation to drive down emissions.

Our goal is not to impose fines - but to do everything we can to help make it easy for buildings to decarbonize now!

ABOUT LINCOLN

Born in the 33rd Council District, Lincoln was raised by and has worked with the communities that make up the district his whole life – from Greenpoint to Brooklyn Heights and from Boerum Hill to Williamsburg.

Lincoln spent most of his career as a public servant in New York City government, where he fought hard to deliver for those New Yorkers who always seem to be overlooked by our elected officials. He designed and implemented programs like IDNYC – providing the first U.S. government issued photo identification for many of our city’s 600,000 undocumented residents and negotiated the creation of safe, affordable bank accounts that have benefited thousands of “unbanked” New Yorkers. Lincoln formerly served as Executive Director of the New York City Employment and Training Coalition, a nonprofit coalition of community based organizations, union training funds, and community colleges that provide job training and job placement services to hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers annually.

And over a decade ago, Lincoln helped form New Kings Democrats, an organization dedicated to bringing transparency, accountability, and integrity to Brooklyn politics.

Understanding what our district needs is integral to how Lincoln works—he wants to tackle the affordability crisis, revitalize small businesses, and deliver solutions to climate change. He ran for office because he’s committed to being a problem solver for residents and showing up on every issue, big and small.

Lincoln grew up in Brooklyn Heights and lives in Greenpoint with his partner. He graduated from Brown University and attended neighborhood schools.
